I am dedicated to providing value for both the business and the client. During my time at Instinct, I completed to an excellent standard their in-house Go training course led by one of the core contributors to the language. I have led an initiative to improve the quality of the codebase in both Go and React, leading with strong and proven SOLID principles. I’ve contributed to the knowledge of the company by sharing insights into best practices and have actively been involved in code-reviewing sessions.

Highly experienced, results focused and committed to improving the quality of work; I am driven to provide reliability and reusability, as demonstrated by the development and deployment of critical components within Terraform during my time at AND Digital. I extended the financial services team’s capabilities with new functionality for receiving and processing secure identifiable documents. While identifying areas of growth, I championed the development of new business capabilities while working closely to empower teams and bolster the resilience of their deployments. Whilst on client, I provided tutelage of the AWS platform and best practice; during my time at AND, I have received numerous instances of outstanding feedback.

I am highly experienced in TypeScript and Node.js which I have demonstrated in my role in architecting the backend solution for deployment to AWS. I have utilised my comprehensive experience in cloud native software delivery, I was able to modernise and create a scalable solution capable of delivering interactive native experiences to desktop and mobile clients. Part of the modernisation efforts relied on the use of serverless and AWS cloud development kit in order to create the pipeline required to deploy our micro-services which deliver these high quality narrative experiences. I continue to exercise a keen interest in security as my role requires providing public access to cloud resources in a secured and controlled environment. During the release cycle, I was integral to providing oversight on our database migrations ensuring data integrity and the continued functionality over the newly deployed services. I was core to the daily running of the company leading my team in an agile fashion, scoping work and planning our sprints. As the company has grown I have provided mentorship and proximity management for new members of the team, providing onboarding and guidance of the deployed infrastructure.

I was the principal developer of Igloo Energy’s Smart Meter Data pipeline; a critical piece of cloud infrastructure utilizing TypeScript, Lambda, SQS and several layers of network security to connect to 3rd party adapters which provided the data required to generate bills. I was instrumental in creating the user signup journey for Igloo Energy. I liaised with the design team, to enact their vision of the software, ensuring a high quality product was delivered within agreed timescales. To achieve these outcomes we used pair programming methods, peer code reviews and comprehensive testing was conducted using a combination of Jest, Cypress and developer led testing via BrowserStack. As part of my role I worked using the Scrum agile methodology in which I used estimations to scope and size work; I used these estimations to compile work into sprints for my team. I frequently promoted continuous professional development to junior engineers by hosting regular training sessions and technical talks to share knowledge and skills.

I created a background video/music player with configurable content, playback reports, comprehensive debugging suite and automatic updating features for the LG WebOS platform using Angular and their native SDKs. I conducted technical debt analysis to provide comprehensive documentation, investigating the suitability of containerisation, refactoring in accordance with the SOLID principles and analysis with static code analysis tools like SonarQube. I deployed new development pipelines to establish continuous integration of our supported products. I worked in an agile fashion within my team starting with a weekly kickoff and end of week round up meeting.

During my time at chevin I deployed new development pipelines to establish continuous integration of the product, performed refactoring in accordance with the SOLID principles and the paradigms of R.C Martin’s Clean Code. I led research efforts into containerization of the product to enhance code testability and aid deployment automation. I worked flexibly within the team to develop features such as a comprehensive API layer for the existing code base while producing swagger api documentation. I created a suite of unit tests covering a large portion of the code base. I also worked with Jira to quickly implement client requested features and solve bugs. One such core feature was updating the product to use OAuth 2.0.

I was core to daily operations in Bloc Digital as I was responsible for the creative design of prominent software developments and communicated these designs to the client via conference call, telephone and email. From these conversations I produced reports for senior team members and clients. As one of longest tenured developers at the time, I created bespoke hardware and software solutions used as a sales tool at trade conventions for our augmented reality training software. I worked directly with clients such as Rolls Royce to create their brand new virtual reality training materials. To ensure high quality outcomes I implemented C#/Python/JavaScript-based testing utilities, which ran in our self-hosted GitLab instance which required migration from the existing system. I maintained the current release pipelines and source control management solutions needed for company-wide operations.
