Working to exercise my continued professional development I have been enthusiastically learning Go. Go is an amazing, strongly typed language which is simple to write but built to operate within concurrent and complex data driven domains. Go provides an incredible toolset for detecting race conditions, building robust applications using only the standard library. It comes out of the box with a performance first toolchain for running benchmarks and supports library developers in their ability to provide examples. Go builds complete binaries which makes deployment very simple. Areas of focus on my learning are in; Test driven development (TDD), concurrency, channels, API design and interface design which allows me to create robust solutions with minimal side-effects.

I've always been cognisant of time and one way I found to help me understand, truly how far we are into the project or even the year is to visualise it. I made a web application to do just that! Technologically the app is underpinned by a javascript web framework by the name of Svelte, you can read more about the design, development and ethos on my blog.

I work on Ember as a weekend passion project and technology sandbox which provides me with knowledge and key insights which I take through to my full-time roles. Ember is a Gaming focused social media platform focusing on the interactivity of communities. It is a place where factions of gamers can meet and interact with each other. Working with the founder I took the initial idea of the platform and architected a cloud native solution which demonstrates software excellence.

I graduated from the University of Derby's Computer Science course attaining a 1st Class degree with Hons.
